Most Common Oral Lesions: What You Need To Know In Oral Pathology, Oral Medicine and Oral Radiology

About this Seminar

Practical clinical oral pathology with emphasis on both normal and abnormal conditions commonly seen in the dental practice including systematic examination and interpretations as well as diagnosis, management, use of screening tools and biopsies by reviewing cases.

Objectives: Upon completion of this course, participants should be able to:


1. Be able to diagnose normal, normal variation and abnormal conditions.
2. Understand the etiology and management of oral lesions
3. Better recognize oral lesions and formulate a differential diagnosis
Develop a diagnostic approach including an understand of the oral soft-tissue biopsy technique

Dr. Firoozeh Samim

About Dr. Firoozeh Samim

Dr. FiroozehSamim is a Canadian and American Board-Certified specialist in Oral Medicine & Oral and Maxillofacial Pathology. Dr. Samim received her DMD from Shiraz University of Medical Science and completed the Oral Medicine & Oral Pathology residency program at UBC. She was actively involved as Clinical Assistant Professor at the Faculty of Dentistry, UBC and oral oncology group at the department of Oral Oncology/ Dentistry, British Columbia Cancer Agency. Dr. Samim completed her Master of Science in craniofacial focusing on the oral health of vulnerable population. She has several papers focusing on oral mucositis and oral care in cancer patients. Dr. Samim is a clinical assistant professor at Memorial University and a staff of pathology and laboratory medicine at the Health Science Center. Dr. Samim's expertise lies in the diagnosis, nature and primarily non-surgical management of oral, maxillofacial, and temporomandibular diseases and disorders including dental management of patients with medical complications. She also provides pathology services.
